Corps Day and Recognition Day events take place at The Citadel Friday March 21st through Sunday, March 23rd. The limited edition bobbleheads are being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of The Citadel.
- The bobbleheads are now available in the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museumโs Online Store at this link.
- The bobbleheads, which are expected to ship in September, are $30 for the G3 Bobblehead and $35 for the Spike T. Bulldog Bobblehead plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.
- Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2,025.
- This marks the first bobblehead featuring The Citadelโs live mascot G3. G3โs official name, Gen. Mike D. Groshon, will be familiar to many in The Citadel family and in Charleston. He was named for Coach Mike D. Groshon, Citadel Class of 1976, who passed away in 2016, after caring for several generations of mascots.
- The Citadel, with its iconic campus located in Charleston, South Carolina, offers a classic military college education for young men and women focused on leadership excellence and academic distinction. The approximately 2,300 members of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets are not required to serve in the military, but about one-third of each class earn commissions to become officers in every branch of U.S. military service. Citadel alumni have served the nation, their states and their communities as principled leaders since 1842. The Citadel Graduate College offers dozens of graduate degree, graduate certificate and evening undergraduate programs in the evening or online. The Citadel is ranked as the Best Regional University in the South and has also been consecutively named Best Public University in the South by U.S. News & World Report for 14 years and Best Public College for Veterans in the South for seven years.
- Corps Day is the birthday of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets, and is one of the most highly attended weekends at The Citadel. Attractions include dress parades, awards presentations, special cadet performances and athletic events.
- Recognition Day is a momentous occasion in the life of a knob. It means the end for rigid formations, walking in single file at breakneck speed and the highly regimented way of life that is The Citadelโs Fourth-Class System: the toughest college military training system in the country.
- “Weโre excited to unveil these Citadel bobbleheads in conjunction with Corps Day and Recognition Day,โ National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. โThese bobbleheads will be the perfect way for everyone affiliated with The Citadel to show off!โ
