This morning, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled an officially licensed SMU Mustangs Bobblehead Collection to celebrate the SMU football team’s historic 2024 season and berth in the College Football Playoffs. The bobbleheads include two of SMU’s costumed mascot Peruna and the first bobblehead featuring SMU’s live mascot Peruna IX. The bobbleheads are being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of Southern Methodist University.

The 11th-seeded SMU Mustangs are preparing to take on the 6th-seeded Penn State in State College, Pennsylvania, on Saturday December 21st at 11am Central Time. SMU is currently ranked 12th in both the AP Top 25 and the AFCA Coaches Poll. The Mustangs enter the Playoffs with an impressive 11-2 record.

  • The bobbleheads are now available in the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store at this link.
  • The bobbleheads are $35 for the standard Peruna Bobblehead and $40 each for the SMU Football Top 25 Ranking Tracker Bobblehead and Peruna IX Bobblehead plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order. All three bobbleheads are expected to ship in May.
  • Each bobblehead will be individually numbered to 2,024.
  • Standing on a base that reads “SMU Mustangs” across the front with a backing featuring the SMU logo, the first Peruna bobblehead is giving the No. 1 signal while wearing a red shirt adored with the SMU logo in blue. Standing on a football field-like texture, the second Peruna bobblehead is positioned on a numbered block that can be adjusted when SMU’s ranking changes. Peruna is also holding a football adorned with the SMU logo. Running on a grass-like texture on a base bearing his name, the Peruna IX bobblehead is a replica of SMU’s miniature black Shetland pony.
  • Moving from the American Athletic Conference to the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2024, SMU went 8-0 and became the first team transitioning to a power conference to reach a conference championship game in the National Championship Game era. Despite losing to Clemson, 34-31 in the ACC Championship Game on Saturday, December 7th at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Mustangs were selected as an 11 seed for the College Football Playoff. SMU (11-2) will face sixth-seeded Penn State (11-2) in a first-round matchup on Saturday, December 21st at Beaver Stadium in State College, Pennsylvania. This marks the first time that the Mustangs have been chosen for the College Football Playoff, which debuted in 2014. This season is the first year the playoff has featured a 12-team bracket.
