DETROIT – It was Tyler Bertuzzi bobblehead night Wednesday at Little Caesars Arena, and the scrappy second-year forward for the Detroit Red Wings sent fans home with a pleasant memory in addition to a souvenir.
Bertuzzi scored his second goal of the game at 13:07 of the third period to snap a tie and lift the Red Wings to a 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues.
This was like two completely different games rolled into one.
The Red Wings dominated the first half. The Blues likewise for much of the second half, before Bertuzzi banged in the rebound of a shot by Michael Rasmussen to snap a 3-3 tie.
Bertuzzi has eight goals this season, one more than he scored in 48 games as a rookie.
The Red Wings (11-11-3) snapped a three-game winless streak (0-2-1). The Blues (8-12-3) have lost seven of their past nine.
Thomas Vanek and Andreas Athanasiou also scored for the Red Wings. Mike Green had two assists.
Jimmy Howard made 33 saves for the win. Jake Allen stopped 27 shots for St. Louis.
The Red Wings dominated the first 31 minutes of the game and scored three goals in a span of 6:42 in the second period to take a 3-0 lead.
