Reading Fightin Phils honor Darren Daulton on Stand Up to Cancer Night with bobblehead giveaway By Enrico Campitelli
The Phillies may not have added any game-changing talent at Tuesday’s MLB non-waiver trade deadline, but you can still add a huge piece to your Phillies memorabilia collection.
As part of the Stand Up to Cancer initiative, the Reading Fightin Phils are giving away a bobblehead honoring the late, great Darren Daulton for those in attendance at tonight’s game against the Trenton Thunder.
“Dutch” Daulton was one of the most beloved athletes in Philly sports history and died last summer after a long battle with brain cancer.
Daulton was something of a ladies’ favorite during his playing days with his long hair and bright smile. The bobblehead captures Dutch during his final years when he was known more for a bald head that he wore like a gentleman who always put up a fight.
In addition to special guest appearances by Mickey Morandini, Larry Bowa and Tommy Greene on behalf of the Darren Daulton Foundation, there will also be auctions benefiting Stand Up to Cancer throughout the game. Items include Daulton memorabilia as well as random Philly sports pieces such as field passes to a Philadelphia Union game.
