The Marlins handed out Ichiro Suzuki bobbleheads – complete with a hit counter — to the first 12,000 fans through the gates on May 22 to commemorate his run to the 3,000 hit club.
Ichiro made it to 3,000 on Sunday afternoon in Denver and prices for his merchandise, especially those free bobbleheads, are soaring.
On eBay, one of those counter-bobbles given away by the Marlins has a price tag as high as $399.99 — not including a shipping charge of $4.95.
Of course that’s an asking price, not necessarily a “getting” price.
If those numbers are a bit too steep for the average fan, well, a pair of new Ichiro bobbling collectables is about the hit the market.
commemorates Ichiro as the much-debated ‘International Hit King’ as his combined hits in Japan and in the MLB surpassed Pete Rose’s 4,256 hits which are most in major league history.
The bobblehead hall says both are “expected” to be numbered to 2,016 and can be pre-ordered and expected to ship by December. The 3,000 hit bobblehead costs $35 and the hit king one goes for $40. Shipping is $8.
