
This morning, to celebrate March Madness and the start of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled an officially licensed University of Nebraska Omaha Mavericks Basketball Bobblehead. This evening, the University of Nebraska Omaha Mavericks will make their debut in the Division I Menโs Basketball Tournament when they take on the St. John’s Red Storm. The limited edition bobblehead is being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of the University of Nebraska Omaha.

- The bobbleheads, which are expected to ship in September, are $35 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.
- Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2,025.
- Standing on a base that has the University of Nebraska Omaha Mavericks logo across the front with a backing featuring the Omaha logo, the Durango bobblehead is giving the No. 1 signal while wearing his number 55 jersey.
- The 15th seeded Nebraska Omaha Mavericks will make their first apperance in the Division I Menโs Basketball NCAA Tournament when they take on the 2nd seeded St. John’s Red Storm at 8:45pm Central Time tonight in Providence, Rhode Island, with the winner going on to face either Kansas or Arkansas on Saturday.
- On Sunday, March 9th, the top-seeded Omaha menโs basketball team won their first Summit League Tournament championship when it defeated second-seeded St. Thomas, 85-75, at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Mavericks (22-12) had already secured their first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament since moving up to the Division I ranks in 2011 prior to the game since St. Thomas is ineligible for postseason play as it transitions to Division I. The Mavericks qualified for the NCAA Tournament 12 times as a Division II program โ most recently in 2010.
- Founded in 1908 by faculty from the Omaha Presbyterian Theological Seminary as a private non-sectarian college, the university was originally known as the University of Omaha. The universityโs sports teams, branded as โOmaha,โ have been nicknamed the Mavericks since 1971. Durango emerged as the costumed mascot representing the Mavericks in 1993.
