MILWAUKEE – This morning, to celebrate National Bobblehead Day, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled the first bobblehead featuring the iconic Munch’s Make Believe Band from Chuck E. Cheese. The main character of the band, Charles Entertainment Cheese, or Chuck E. Cheese for short, is one of the most recognized and cherished characters in the United States. The officially licensed, limited-edition singing bobblehead includes the animatronic band that retired from all but five Chuck E. Cheese locations in 2024, which generated a ton of buzz nationwide when the change was announced. People may not be able to see Munch’s Make Believe Band at their local Chuck E. Cheese, but now they’ll be able to own the singing band in bobblehead form!
The popular chain of family entertainment centers and restaurants has served as the home of the band featuring Chuck E. Cheese, Helen Henny, Mr. Munch, Jasper T. Jowls, and Pasqually P. Pieplate since 1989. In addition, a bobblehead featuring the current Chuck E. Cheese was also unveiled. The new bobbleheads are being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of Chuck E. Cheese.
Standing on a rectangular stage base, the five characters are positioned in front of a backdrop that includes the “Munch’s Make-Believe Band” logo. Chuck E. Cheese and Helen are standing next to each other holding microphones, Mr. Munch is in the middle of the group seated behind a keyboard, Jasper is sitting on a speaker while playing a guitar, and Pasqually is sitting behind a set of drums.
The bobbleheads, which will be individually numbered to 2,025, are available exclusively through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store. The Band Bobblehead is $75 while the Chuck E. Cheese Bobblehead is $30. There is a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order, and both bobbleheads are expected to ship in April.
Considered by many “the birthday capital of the universe,” the first Chuck E. Cheese’s Pizza Time Theatre opened on May 17th, 1977, in San Jose, California. Founded by Nolan Bushnell, the co-founder of Atari, the groundbreaking and innovative 5,000 square foot location was the first family restaurant of its kind to integrate food – mainly pizza – with arcade games and animated entertainment, thus being one of the pioneers for the “family entertainment center”. As of April 2024, Chuck E. Cheese operates nearly 600 corporate and franchised locations, as well as more than 120 Peter Piper Pizza restaurants. They are located in 45 states domestically and in 17 foreign countries and territories around the world.
“We’re excited to unveil this replica singing bobblehead of ‘Munch’s Make Believe Band’ – a staple at Chuck E. Cheese for nearly 40 years,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “When Chuck E. Cheese announced that the band would be retired from most locations, we knew that a bobblehead replica of the band would be the perfect way for fans to be able to commemorate Mr. Munch’s iconic Make-Believe Band!”
“The power of the Chuck E. Cheese brand is its undeniable multi-generation love and appeal,” said Melissa McLeanas, VP of Global Licensing, Media and Entertainment for CEC Entertainment. “As we continue to grow and evolve with our families, our licensed merchandise program is a way to bring our iconic characters to fans of all ages from each era of our legacy and we are excited to join the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame with both Chuck E. Cheese and his bandmates.”
