This Black History Month, we`re featuring key individuals who played in the Negro Leagues. Today we are highlighting Norman "Turkey" Stearnes. His nickname came from the flapping motion he made while running the bases, and he ran those bases a lot! A truly fearsome hitter, Stearnes hit over .300 for 14 of his 19 professional seasons. His daughter, Joyce Stearnes Thompson, now gives lectures and interviews, educating the public about her father and the legacy of the Negro Leagues. ⚾
