- On Monday, April 7th, the Florida Gators capped a sensational season by rallying for a 65-63 victory over the Houston Cougars in the championship game of the 2025 NCAA Tournament at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The title was the third for the Gators and the first since 2007.
- Trailing by 12 points in the second half, Florida (36-4) denied Houston its first national championship. Will Richard connected on four 3-pointers in the first half and led Florida with 18 points, while Alex Condon chipped in 12. After being held scoreless in the first half, All-American guard Walter Clayton Jr. scored all 11 of his points in the second half and added seven assists. Clayton was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.
- Florida’s 39-year-old third-year coach Todd Golden became the youngest head coach to win the title since NC State’s Jim Valvano in 1983. “We clearly have the best team in America,” Golden said. “And in three short years in Gainesville, we got the basketball program back where it belongs, which is raising trophies, playing in Final Fours, and competing for national championships.”
- “Bobbleheads are the ultimate way to celebrate a team’s championship, and these bobbleheads will be the ultimate way for Gator fans to commemorate the Florida men’s basketball team’s 2025 national championship,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “We’re excited to be unveiling this bobblehead collection celebrating Florida’s third national title and the first since 2007. These bobbleheads will be must-haves for fans of the Florida Gators!”
