This morning, to celebrate the start of the new school year, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled an officially licensed Valparaiso Beacons Bobblehead featuring Valparaiso’s mascots Beacon and Blaze. The Valparaiso Bobbleheads join dozens of other new college bobbleheads that we’re unveiling throughout the month of September to celebrate the new school year, and we’re excited to have Valpo included. The officially licensed bobbleheads were produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of the Valparaiso University.

  • The bobbleheads are now available in the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store at these links: Beacon and Blaze.
  • The bobbleheads, which recently arrived and ship now, are $35 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.
  • Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2,024.
  • Standing on a base bearing their names across the front with a backing featuring the Valparaiso logo, the Beacon and Blaze bobbleheads are decked out in brown and gold. Wearing a brown No. 76 football jersey, Beacon is giving the No. 1 signal, while Blaze is wearing a gold Valpo jacket.
  • On August 10th, 2021, the university announced that it had changed its nickname from Crusaders to Beacons. “Our new nickname directly connects to the University’s motto, ‘In Thy Light We See Light’ and represents that Valparaiso University community in many ways,” said University president Jose D. Padilla, J.D. “We are beacons of light and hope in our communities. We are beacons of change on campus, in our region and in our country.” Beacons was chosen after a months-long process that included nearly 1,000 suggestions and input from dozens of students, student-athletes, faculty, staff and alumni. On August 15th, 2022, Valpo announced its two new mascots: a golden retriever named Beacon, and a chocolate labrador named Blaze.
  • Classes begin for the 2024 fall semester at Valparaiso University on Wednesday, August 21st.
  • “We’re excited to unveil these new Valparaiso Beacons Bobbleheads in conjunction with the start of the new school year,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “These bobbleheads will be the perfect way for Valparaiso fans, alumni, students, faculty, and staff to show off their school pride!”
  • The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, which is located at 170 S. 1st. St. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, opened to the public on February 1st, 2019. The HOF and Museum also produces high quality, customized bobbleheads for retail sale as well as organizations, individuals, and teams across the country.
