This morning, to celebrate the start of the new school year, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled the first Murray State Bobbleheads featuring Murray State’s mascots Racer One and Dunker. The Murray State Bobbleheads join dozens of other new college bobbleheads that we’re unveiling throughout the month of September to celebrate the new school year, and we’re excited to have Murray State included. The officially licensed bobbleheads were produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of Murray State University.

  • The bobbleheads are now available in the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store at this link. The bobblehead featuring Dunker is also available at the Murray State University Bookstore.
  • The bobbleheads, which recently arrived and ship now, are $35 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.
  • Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2,024.
  • These mark the first bobbleheads for both of Murray State’s mascots.
  • Since 1976, every touchdown scored by the Murray State football team at home has been marked by Racer One running a celebratory lap on the running track around the football field. Violet Cactus was the first horse to fill Racer One’s shoes. When she died in 1984, she was buried adjacent to the north end zone at Roy Stewart Stadium, near where Racer One begins its victory lap. A different horse usually performs Racer One’s duties each year, along with a student jockey. Dunker has been Murray State’s costumed mascot since the 1970s.
  • “We’re excited to unveil these new Murray State Racers Bobbleheads in conjunction with the start of the new school year,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “These bobbleheads will be the perfect way for Murray State fans, alumni, students, faculty, and staff to show off their school pride!”
  • The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, which is located at 170 S. 1st. St. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, opened to the public on February 1st, 2019. The HOF and Museum also produces high quality, customized bobbleheads for retail sale as well as organizations, individuals, and teams across the country.
