This morning, to celebrate March Madness and the start of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled an officially licensed Drake Bulldogs Griff II Blue Tie Bobblehead. The bobblehead features Drake’s mascot sporting a white dress shirt and blue tie that has become a popular fashion statement for Drake fans mimicking Coach Ben McCollum’s gameday attire.

This evening, the Drake Bulldogs will take on the Missouri Tigers in the 2025 Men’s Basketball NCAA Tournament. Although Griff II may not be allowed in the arena for the NCAA Tournament games, fans can bring in their Griff Bobbleheads and are now able to order a bobblehead featuring Griff in his new outfit. The limited edition bobblehead is being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of Drake University.

  • The bobbleheads are now available in the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store at this link.
  • The bobbleheads, which are expected to ship in September, are $30 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.
  • Each bobblehead will be individually numbered to 2,025.
  • Sitting on a Drake Bulldogs logo base, the Griff II bobblehead is wearing a white dress shirt and blue tie, which has become a popular fashion statement for Drake fans mimicking Coach Ben McCollum’s gameday attire.
  • Griff II was introduced as Drake University’s second official live mascot on July 1, 2020. According to his bio, “Griff II adores people and can never get enough attention. He has an insatiable appetite and loves to take long naps—punctuated by moments of mischief. Griff II is a key part of recruiting efforts, student life, alumni functions, Drake athletics, and more. Griff II is loved by all and has a positive impact on many. He is, proudly, Des Moines’ hometown dog.”
  • The 11th seeded Drake Bulldogs will take on the 6th seeded Missouri Tigers at 6:35pm Central Time tonight in Wichita, Kansas, with the winner going on to face either Texas Tech or UNC Wilmington on Saturday.
  • “We’re excited to unveil this special edition Griff II bobblehead in conjunction with March Madness and the start of the 2025 NCAA Tournament,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “This bobblehead featuring Griff II in his white shirt and blue tie is the perfect way for Drake fans, alumni, students, faculty, and staff to show off their school pride!”
