This morning, to celebrate the upcoming start of the college football season, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled an officially licensed Clemson Tiger Push-Up Counter Bobblehead. The unique bobblehead lets fans count along with the number of push-ups their mascot does each game and is part of a series featuring over a dozen college mascots that do push-ups when their team scores.

The Clemson Tigers are ranked #14 in both preseason Top 25 Rankings and will kick off the season when they take on Georgia on Saturday in a highly anticipated season opener at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The officially licensed bobbleheads are being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of Clemson University.

  • Released in conjunction with the start of the 2024 college football season, the bobbleheads are now available in the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store at this link.
  • The bobbleheads, which are scheduled to ship in December, are $40 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.
  • Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2,024.
  • Nicknamed the Tigers since 1896, Clemson’s Tiger mascot, which debuted in 1954, has been performing push-ups at football games since 1978 – a tradition that is now commonly emulated by other college mascots. Zack Mills, who was the Tiger mascot for the 1978 and 1979 seasons, is responsible for starting the push-up tradition. After each Clemson score, the Tiger does push-ups equal to the total score Clemson has in the game. The push-ups were originally done in the east end zone and the Clemson kicker would delay the kickoff until the push-ups were done. After the NCAA banned mascots from entering the field of play during the game, the Tiger’s push-ups have been performed on a board held up by the cheerleaders or Clemson ROTC members near the student section ever since. Mascot hopefuls must do a minimum of 50 push-ups during tryouts. Ricky Capps holds the Clemson single-game record for performing 465 push-ups as the Tiger in an 82-24 victory over Wake Forest on Halloween during the 1981 season as the Tigers went on to claim the national championship. The Tiger feigned exhaustion after Clemson scored its 11th and 12th touchdowns, prompting the Demon Deacons’ mascot to come to the Clemson sideline and help out by executing 76 push-ups.
  • The Clemson Tigers are ranked #14 in the Preseason AP Top 25 Rankings and #14 in the AFCA Coaches Poll.
  • “We’re excited to unveil this unique Clemson Tigers Push-Up Counter Bobblehead in conjunction with the start of the 2024 college football season,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “This bobblehead will be the perfect way for Clemson fans to follow along as the Tigers put points on the scoreboard each week for many seasons to come and a great way for fans, alumni, students, faculty, and staff to show off their school pride all year long!”
  • The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, which is located at 170 S. 1st. St. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, opened to the public on February 1st, 2019. The HOF and Museum also produces high quality, customized bobbleheads for retail sale as well as organizations, individuals, and teams across the country.
