Bobbleheads for AAGPBL released By JUSTIN A. COHN
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, located in Milwaukee, today unveiled the first officially licensed and complete series of All-American Girl Professional Baseball League bobbleheads.
A bobblehead was produced for each of the 15 AAGPBL teams that played between 1943 and 1954 – including the Fort Wayne Daisies.
The bobbleheads cost $25 each and can be bought online at https://store.bobbleheadhall.com/products/aagpbl
The AAGPBL is celebrating its 75th anniversary – there will be a reunion in September in Kansas City, Missouri – and prior to this bobblehead series only five of the 15 teams had bobbleheads produced, including the Daisies, Kalamazoo Lassies, Kenosha Comets, Peoria Redwings and Rockford Peaches.
“We are thrilled to partner with the AAGPBL to celebrate the league and its players with the first comprehensive series of AAGPBL bobbleheads ever produced,” said Phil Sklar, co-founder and CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum.
The movie “A League of Their Own” with Tom Hanks and Geena Davis was based on the AAGPBL and some think Davis’ character was based, at least in part, on former Fort Wayne player Dottie Collins.
