This morning, to celebrate the start of the 2024-25 school year, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled an officially licensed Tulsa Golden Hurricane Bobblehead featuring Tulsaโ€™s Gus T., who is one of the most unique college mascots. Over the next two weeks, we are unveiling our back-to-school bobblehead collection, and weโ€™re excited to have Tulsa included. The officially licensed bobbleheads are being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of the University of Tulsa.

  • The bobbleheads are now available in the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museumโ€™s Online Store at this link.
  • The bobbleheads, which are expected to ship in December, are $35 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.
  • Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2,024.
  • Standing on a base that reads โ€œGolden Hurricaneโ€ across the front with a backing featuring Tulsaโ€™s logo, the Gus T. bobblehead is holding up a #1 sign with his right hand and wearing a No. 1 Tulsa football jersey.
  • The University of Tulsaโ€™s football team had gone by names like โ€œThe Yellow Jacketsโ€ and โ€œKendallitesโ€ prior to adopting the identity of The Golden Hurricane. But in 1922, before TU played Texas A&M, a sports reporter asked the TU football coach at the time, Howard Archer, what his team was called. He said TU was โ€œThe Golden Hurricane,โ€ and that name stuck.
  • Gus T. made a grand entrance as the official mascot for the Golden Hurricane in August 2003 at the football home opener. A freshman himself, Gus T. led the team onto the field alongside the freshman class, a TU tradition known as the Freshmen Storm. Reminiscent of the late 90s and early 2000s, TU has brought back a mascot that personifies a hurricane. The muscular supporter is decked out in TU apparel and is topped with a smiling hurricane head. Selected after a fan vote, the name โ€œGus T.โ€ emerged victorious in the polls. Following the retirement of Captain Cane, Gus T. now proudly represents the Golden Hurricane and is winning over fans wherever he goes.
  • “Weโ€™re excited to unveil this new Tulsa Golden Hurricane Bobblehead in conjunction with the start of the new school year,โ€ National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. โ€œThis bobblehead will be the perfect way for Tulsa fans, alumni, students, faculty, and staff to show off their school pride!โ€
  • The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, which is located at 170 S. 1st. St. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, opened to the public on February 1st, 2019. The HOF and Museum also produces high quality, customized bobbleheads for retail sale as well as organizations, individuals, and teams across the country.
