First White House Bobble Unveiled on Anniversary of Opening

MILWAUKEE – This morning, to celebrate the anniversary of the opening of The White House, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled the first White House Bobble. On November 1st, 1800, with the house not quite finished, the nation’s second President, John Adams, moved into The White House just a few months before his term ended. The special edition bobble is being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum.

The bobble features a replica of the White House along with the United States flag, which is displayed from the rooftop flagpole 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The bobble base includes the North Lawn, which borders Pennsylvania Avenue. There are bushes at the front of the base along with “THE WHITE HOUSE” in 3D raised text. The bobbles are available exclusively in the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store. The bobbles, which are expected to ship in January, are $30 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.

Designed by Irish-born architect James Hoban in the neoclassical style, the White House has been the official residence and workplace of every president of the United States since 1800. Located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., the house was originally named the President’s House. Hoban modeled the building after the Leinster House in Dublin, a building which today houses the Oireachtas, the Irish legislature. Construction took place between 1792 and 1800, using Aquia Creek sandstone painted white. The White House has 132 rooms, 32 bathrooms, 147 windows and 28 fireplaces. The present-day White House complex includes the Executive Residence, the West Wing, the East Wing, the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which served previously as the State Department, and the Blair House, a guest residence. The Executive Residence is made up of six stories: the Ground Floor, State Floor, Second Floor, Third Floor, and a two-story basement.

Presidents have used parts of the White House for social events. The biggest room, called the East Room, is where dances and large gatherings take place. The State Dining Room, which is slightly smaller, can seat as many as 140 people. The Red, Blue, and Green rooms are named for the colors that were used to decorate them. All these rooms are on the Ground Floor. The Second and Third Floors contain private living space for the president, the president’s family, and the president’s guests. The family and guests can enjoy the White House’s movie theater, swimming pool, tennis court, jogging track, and library. In addition, the White House has its own doctor’s office, dentist’s office, and barber shop. The West and East Wings of the White House connect with the main building. They contain offices for government workers. The office of the president – called the Oval Office – is in the West Wing along with the office of the vice president. The East Wing holds other offices, including those of the First Lady and her staff.

Previously, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled a limited-edition series of United States Presidents White House Base Bobbleheads. Each bobblehead features the President on a base with a replica White House in the background. The bobbleheads are still available for $30 each or $1,250 for a complete set.
