George Santos Bobbleheads with a Cause Unveiled
MILWAUKEE – This morning, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled the first George Santos Bobbleheads. Santos, the recently elected Republican congressman from New York, has been caught in a slew of lies and deceptions about his resume, family heritage and personal life and is now under investigation by multiple organizations. The special edition bobbleheads are being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum.
Two versions of the bobblehead are being offered—a standard version and one with an elongated nose representing the mounting number of lies and fabrications surrounding Santos’ background that have been documented. The bobblehead will play clips of some of Santos’ biggest lies in his own words at the touch of a button. Each bobblehead will be individually numbered and they are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store. The bobbleheads, which are expected to ship in May, are $30 each or $55 for the set of two plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum will be donating $5 from every George Santos Bobblehead sold to dog-related GoFundMe Campaigns. Recently, Rich Osthoff, a Navy veteran from New Jersey, revealed that Santos, then introduced as Anthony Devolder, launched a GoFundMe campaign in 2016 to raise $3,000 for lifesaving surgery for Osthoff’s beloved service dog and kept the money.
After losing to Democratic incumbent Thomas Suozzi in a 2020 bid for the United States House of Representatives in New York’s 3rd congressional district, 55.9% to 43.4%, Santos refused to accept his defeat and claimed that the vote totals had been somehow manipulated. When Suozzi announced he would not seek reelection, Santos ran against Democratic nominee Rob Zimmerman for the open seat. In the November 2022 election, Santos won by nearly eight percentage points, 53.8% to 46.2%. In flipping the district in what observers called a “mild upset,” Santos’ victory helped Republicans retake control of the House by a narrow margin.
The 34-year-old Santos, who previously worked for a variety of businesses in New York and Florida, has come under fire since his election for lying and faces federal, state, and local investigations. Santos’ federal campaign records show that he loaned his campaign more than $700,000, but the source of that money has yet to be explained. In January, constituents in his district have held rallies demanding Santos’ resignation. Some Republican leaders have described him as a pariah and a pathological liar.
Santos has admitted to lying about graduating from Baruch College and playing on the volleyball team (he has not graduated from any college); working at Goldman Sachs and Citigroup (he now says he worked with a company that worked with the financial giants); owning 13 properties (he owns none); and his Ukrainian grandparents being Jewish and having fled the Holocaust (both grandparents were born in Brazil and he was raised Christian; Santos later claimed he was “Jew-ish”).
Recently, the New York Times reported that Santos lied about his mother having escaped from the World Trade Center on 9/11 (she was living in Brazil at the time). Also, he claimed to have lost four employees in the Pulse Club shooting (none of the 49 victims were employed by Santos); said he did not commit a crime in Brazil (prosecutors in Brazil have said they plan to recharge him with fraud); and claimed he was mugged when trying to deliver a rent check (there is no police report to support this).
“We have been receiving a growing number of requests for a bobblehead of George Santos,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “Some people have even said he’s an early candidate for ‘Bobblehead of the Year’, so we decided to offer people the opportunity to secure their very own George Santos Bobbleheads. No one knows how and when the drama surrounding George Santos will end, but we know the bobblehead will be the perfect collectible to commemorate this unbelievable story for years to come.”
