Rockefeller Owl Bobblehead with a Cause Unveiled

MILWAUKEE – This morning, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled a bobblehead featuring “Rockefeller”, the adorable little owl who was found in the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree earlier this week. The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum will be donating $5 from every Rockefeller Bobblehead sold to the Ravensbeard Wildlife Center, which is where Rockefeller is being cared for after being discovered.

The bobbleheads are only available for pre-order through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store. They are $25 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order. The bobbleheads are going into production now, with expected delivery in February.

The petite saw-whet owl, who was later nicknamed Rockefeller, was discovered when the tree was being transported to Rockefeller Center in New York City after being cut down in Oneonta, New York. Pictures of the beautiful owl and what has been called a Christmas miracle, quickly went viral on social media.

Although Rockefeller is about the size of a soda can, he is an adult. According to the Ravensbeard Wildlife Center, Rockefeller had not eaten or drank in days, but began to recover after receiving food and fluids. When he’s ready to fly again, Rockefeller will be released on the grounds of Ravensbeard where he can make a new home. Since waw-whet owls are migratory, they are very capable of adapting to new places.

“This has been a wild year, and when we saw pictures of Rockefeller and heard his story, we knew there needed to be a Rockefeller bobblehead,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “We think this bobblehead will bring a lot of smiles to people while also raising funds for a great organization that is helping get him back into the wild.”
