Unsinkable Molly Brown Bobblehead Officially Unveiled

First bobblehead featuring Margaret “Molly” Brown is now available at the Molly Brown House Museum and the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s online store.

Milwaukee, WI – July 18, 2019 – Today, Denver’s Molly Brown House Museum, in conjunction with the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, unveiled a limited edition bobblehead featuring Margaret “Molly” Brown on the 152^nd Anniversary of Brown’s birthday. This is the first bobblehead honoring Molly Brown and features her holding the sterling silver loving cup she presented to Captain Arthur Rostron in 1912. Rostron was the captain of the Carpathia, who bravely navigated through ice-filled waters to rescue survivors of the Titanic crash.

The bobbleheads, which are individually numbered to only 500, are available at the Molly Brown House Museum and at the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s online store. The bobbleheads cost $20 each, plus a flat rate shipping charge of $8 for orders placed online. Each bobblehead comes in a collector’s box with photos of Molly, as well as a bio. The bobbleheads were produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in conjunction with the Molly Brown House Museum.

“I am a daughter of adventure,” is how the remarkably outspoken Brown, who was born in Hannibal, Missouri on July 18, 1867, described herself to a reporter in a 1923 interview. She later went on to say “this means I never experience a dull moment and must be prepared for any eventuality. I never know when I may go up in an airplane and come down with a crash, or go motoring and climb a pole, or go off for a walk in the twilight and return all mussed up in an ambulance. That’s my arc, as the astrologers would say. It’s a good one, too, for a person who had rather make a snap-out than a fade-out of life.”

Her aid in the rescue mission of Titanic survivors was not the end of her kind and generous acts. Molly was a well-known philanthropist and American socialite, heavily immersed in fundraising in Europe and the United States. After her rescue, Brown and other first-class survivors organized a survivors’ committee to ensure counseling and necessities were made readily available for second and third-class survivors. Two years after the tragedy of the Titanic, she ran for US Senate but ended her campaign to return to France to work with the American Committee for Devastated France during the first World War. Molly was later awarded the French Légion d’Honneur for her efforts.

Margaret “Molly” Brown’s legacy is gracefully commemorated at the Molly Brown House Museum. The citizens of Denver joined forces to stop the demolition of Molly’s home in 1970. Historic Denver Inc. worked tirelessly to restore the house to its early 20th century beauty. The site is now visited by over 50,000 people per year. The museum is committed to enhancing the city’s unique, creative identity. Visitors experience guided tours telling the story of Molly Brown’s activism, philanthropy and passion through educational programs and exhibits.
