Scott Van Pelt puts Purdue logo on head for ‘SportsCenter’ after losing bet to Tyler Trent By Jace Evans

No. 24 Purdue beat No. 23 Maryland on Thursday night in West Lafayette, 62-60.

It was a big bounce-back win for the Boilermakers following consecutive road losses to No. 11 Florida State and No. 5 Michigan. In beating the Terrapins, though, Purdue picked up an off-the-court win for superfan Tyler Trent, who has become an inspirational figure during his battle with bone cancer

During a previous appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter, Trent made a bet with anchor and Maryland alum Scott Van Pelt centered around the game. If Maryland won, Trent would have to paint a “M” on his head. If Purdue won, Van Pelt would have to paint a “P” on his head like Trent had done for prior Purdue games — including the big football upset over No. 2 Ohio State

Well, the Boilermakers won, meaning it was Van Pelt’s time to pay up. He did during Friday night’s broadcast, wearing the Purdue “P” on his head for the entire show.
