‘Home Alone’ bobbleheads are a thing and the Bobblehead Hall of Fame just unveiled an underappreciated character By John Beattie
Anyone know the name Gus Polinski? Do the “Kenosha Kickers” ring a bell? Or, toot a horn, we should say.
The unlikely — and underrated as well as underappreciated — hero of “Home Alone” is now in Bobblehead form, thanks to the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. Polinski, played by the late comedic legend, John Candy, was the lead member of the polka band that offered Kevin McCallister’s mother a ride back home in the 1990 film.
“‘Home Alone’ is my favorite movie and creating bobbleheads of the characters has always been high on our priority list,” said Phil Sklar, Co-Founder and CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. “After realizing that John Candy had never had a bobblehead, we put a bobblehead of Gus towards the top of the list. It took a lot of work, and we’re thrilled to be able to release it for ‘Home Alone’ fans the holiday season.”
There are now five ‘Home Alone’ bobbleheads: Kevin (played by Macaulay Culkin), Harry (played by Joe Pesci) and Marv (played by Daniel Stern) which were released during the 2016 holiday season and a bobble-tarantula which was released in 2017. Check them all out below.
