OKC Dodgers giving away Cody Bellinger bobblehead By Jacob Unruh
The Oklahoma City Dodgers are going back to the bobblehead giveaway.
The team announced Wednesday morning that it will give away a Cody Bellinger bobblehead Saturday, Aug. 18, to the first 2,000 fans as part of its promotional schedule.
It’s the third bobblehead the team has given out in four seasons. In the inaugural season, fans received a Clayton Kershaw bobblehead. In 2016, it was a Corey Seager bobblehead. Last year, fans instead received a stein commemorating the 20th season at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Bellinger played just 18 games with OKC last season after three to end the 2016 season. He batted .343 with five home runs and 15 RBIs before being promoted to Los Angeles, where he took off to win the National League Rookie of the Year Award. OKC gave away a Bellinger T-shirt late last season.
Other promotional giveaways include an OKC Dodgers hat (Friday, May 4), OKC Dodgers water bottle (Friday, June 1) and an OKC Dodgers floor mat (Saturday, July 7).
But that’s not the only popular returning promotion.
The team will host an Oklahoma City 89ers Night for a second straight season. Players and coaches will wear special 89ers jerseys and hats Saturday, July 7. They will be auctioned off following the game to benefit the OKC Dodgers Baseball Foundation.
Also returning will be Fireworks Nights, which include all Friday home games, Opening Night (April 10) and each game July 4-6.
The popular $2 Thursdays also return with $2 beer, soda and bottled water.
Chaparral Energy Family Sundays also return for each Sunday game. That includes pregame player autographs, inflatable games, face painters and a family activity station. Kids can also meet mascots Brooklyn and Brixoutside the ballpark and run the bases following the game.
The Dodgers will host two Friday night games honoring military, May 18 and Aug. 17. Pack the Park Pink, where the Dodgers will wear pink jerseys to support breast cancer awareness is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 10.
Faith Night also returns Saturday, June 2, and features a pregame concert with Unspoken.
A new promotion will be the “Es Divertido Ser Un Fan” series on May 31-June 3 as part of an initiative to engage with MiLB to engage Hispanic fans in the community.
