Bobblehead Hall of Fame to open in Walker’s Point next year By Sean Ryan
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame next year will officially open on a busy corner in Milwaukee’s Walker’s Point neighborhood.
The Hall of Fame, first announced in 2014, has exhibited its nodding collection of sports figurines on Fourth Street in Haymarket Square, north of downtown Milwaukee. In the first half of 2018, it will set up a permanent space in the second floor of the building at 170 S. First St., above the Stack’d Burger Bar.
Co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar announced the 4,300-square-foot location Thursday. He said the collection of bobbleheads has grown from 3,000 to more than 7,000. The museum has about 1,000 members. Sklar’s business also produces custom bobbleheads for teams and individuals.
“We had a successful preview exhibit last year, and our retail and custom bobblehead business has exploded, helping make the dream a reality,” Sklar wrote in an email announcing the location.
The hall of fame has been financed by Fund Milwaukee, a collection of local individuals who invest in start-up companies and projects.
