Kyle Schwarber bobblehead celebrating famous home run sells out in 2 hours By Kyle Schwarber
A Wisconsin-based online collectors club thinks former IU slugger Kyle Schwarber should get a big head over his home run that helped the Chicago Cubs advance to the National League Championship Series in 2015.
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum sold 216 Kyle Schwarber Scoreboard Home Run Bobblehead figures to commemorate the home run in the game against the St. Louis Cardinals, βa 1-1 pitch an estimated 438 feet, with the ball landing on top of the right field video board,β according to a press release from the organization.
The bobblehead sold out in two hours.
The eight-inch Schwarber doll was βone of the fastest sellers in our history,β said Phil Sklar, co-founder and CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. βItβs not uncommon for our exclusive bobbleheads to sell out, but usually it takes anywhere from a week to several months.β
Sklar called Schwarberβs brief career βnothing short of unbelievable, and that has certainly fueled demand.β
βSchwarber added to his lore in the 2016 season by shocking the baseball world with a surprise return for the 2016 World Series after suffering a βseason endingβ injury that he sustained in the Cubsβ third game of the season,β the press release states.
Schwarber played baseball at Indiana University and was the overall fourth pick in the MLB Amateur Draft 2014 draft.
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museumβs website hopes to open a physical hall of fame in Milwaukee later this year.
